Tom was shady about Meg's relationship with Victor and convinced her to break up with him. After she did he found him light a match with a smell of lighting fluid. When Tom went to the hospital to interview people with Leukemia for the Light the Night Walk, he stumbled upon Amanda Verdi. He was intrigued and then he kept visiting her in the hospital. After she was released from the hospital in remission Amanda and Tom began to date.
Amanda's friend Trish was protective but later accepted Tom. Amanda's luekemia came back for a short period and Amanda's brother Stefan visited her. She was released again and Amanda and Stefan tried to find her father to see if he could be a possible bone marrow match. Tom went with them. and he was furious when Tony, her father, wouldn't save his daughter. But he eventually did. Amanda seemed to be cured. Tom then proposed to Amanda when she collapsed and she was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia.
They were then married in Fiji. Tom and Amanda were on a boat gazing at each other when a storm came and Amanda almost drowned. It was then revealed in the hospital that the bone marrow was rejected and the search for Amanda's bone marrow was on again. Tom was with her every step of the way. When an earthquake occured Frank Krueger was killed and he was then tested if he could be a match. But when then Amanda's friend Trish ended up being a match after she was killed in a car accident.
Amanda was saved and Tom and Amanda tried to help Meg stay in line. But then a man, Tony, from Amanda's past showed up and Meg teamed up with him to take her down. Becuase she killed a girl Vanessa in 1994 in a drunken haze. Tom was shocked to come home to find that Amanda had killed Tony.
Tom drifted away from Amanda. Then she was convicted of murder. Now Amanda and Tom's marriage hangs in the balance.
